About Us

The McGill Institute of Islamic Studies Student Council Symposium, also known as the MIISSC Symposium, is an annual event organized by McGill's Institute of Islamic Studies graduate students. The MIISSC Symposium is a celebration of all things Islamic Studies, bringing together students, scholars, and community members for two days of engaging discussions, enlightening workshops, and insightful presentations.

The symposium features a keynote address from a distinguished scholar, as well as panel discussions and workshops on topics relevant to the field of Islamic Studies.

But the symposium is not just about listening to experts - it is also an opportunity for attendees to connect with each other, share their own research and perspectives, and engage in lively discussions. With panels and workshops covering a wide range of topics - from Islamic law and theology to art and culture - there is no shortage of fascinating conversations to be had.

The event is usually held in April in the picturesque campus of McGill University and is open to the public, with free admission for all attendees. The symposium is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about Islam and Islamic Studies, as well as for students and scholars to present their research and engage in meaningful discussions with others in the field.
